Ship in Full Sail Coin Earrings, with King George VI, 1939 and 1946

These earrings have been hand-crafted from British Half Penny coins dated 1939 and 1946. The front of the earrings feature a ship in full sail, flying the British flag and riding the waves. The ship is the Golden Hind, the galleon used by Sir Francis Drake to circumnavigate the globe. The denomination appears above the ship and the date below. The back side of the earrings feature the profile of the United Kingdom's King George VI who was Queen Elizabeth II's father. The border of the coin is inscribed "GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND IMP" which means "George VI, By the Grace of God, King of all Britain, Defender of the Faith, and Emperor of India."

Half Penny coins are also known by the name of ha'penny and were in circulation in various forms for 700 years until they were discontinued in 1969. The coins are 1 inch (25 mm) in diameter and hang 1 ¾ inches from the dangle of the French earwires. These bright bits of history will be great fun to wear!

Please note: Because I have created these earrings from authentic vintage coins, there are signs of wear on the coins.
